• The IRS Brookhaven Accounts Management customer service operation has seldom enjoyed a more successful liaison with any outside group more than it has in its partnership with Abilities. Our staff's participation on the Business Advisory Council and Business Executive Board has effectively promoted the hiring of qualified individuals who happen to have disabilities. Last year, outstanding and ongoing support by Abilities personnel enabled six clerical internships that worked out so well that four were selected for higher graded positions within our organization, well on their way to federal careers. Recently, one Abilities' referral was hired as a new contact representative in our customer service operation. Our staffs have become so committed to the Abilities' cause that they now participate in Abilities' training events, where they give mock interviews, assist with USA Jobs web site navigation, mentor potential candidates, and accept promising resumes, all towards the ultimate goal of achieving federal employment. Abilities continues to provide the IRS campus operations with a supportive venue that works.
