Employment Philosophy

Abilities, Inc was founded on the belief that people with all types of disabilities should be employed in the same work environments as their family members, friends, neighbors and others in the community. This founding principle focuses on equality for persons with disabilities:
  1. Right to Employment: People with disabilities have the right to be employed regardless of type or severity of their disability, age, race, nationality, gender, creed, and orientation.
  2. Right to Competitive Work: People with disabilities have the right to work in competitive, integrated settings.
  3. Right to Equal Wages: People with disabilities have the right to earn a salary equal to experience, ability and current labor market standards.
  4. Right to Equal Benefits: People with disabilities have the right to benefits equal to that of co-workers performing similar jobs.
  5. Right to Equal Opportunity: People with disabilities have the right to be hired based on their abilities, skills and experience.
  6. Right to Control and Choice: People with disabilities have the right to choose and regulate their own supports and services based upon personal goals and career interests.
