Transition Services
Abilities, Inc. offers a variety of youth programs designed to facilitate the transition
from education to employment. Transition Services for students with disabilities
are provided at local high schools, colleges/universities, and Abilities, Inc. and
include career exploration and counseling, employer-based work experiences, job
coaching, and placement upon graduation.

Learn and Earn Program
- Currently in its seventeenth year, this program assists first year community college students with learning disabilities to increase their academic skills while participating in work experiences both on and off campus. The services are offered on community college campuses including Queensborough, Nassau, and New York College of Technology in Brooklyn.

PROSPER Program
- Currently in its eleventh year this program is designed for high school students between the ages of 16 and 21 who are identified as "at-risk" and are currently enrolled in either their junior or senior year. The program focuses on attendance and self-esteem and provides students with opportunities to gain an understanding of the relevancy of education to the world of work.

Transition of High School Students to Vocational Training / Employment and Independent Living
- This program is dedicated to assisting high school students with disabilities to achieve positive transition outcomes of community integration within the adult world and productivity at work.

Summer Program
- The Transition Services Summer Program serves approximately 30 students per summer who are classified with a documented disability and who require special education services during the summer in order to prevent substantial regression.
