Abilities, Inc. Employer BreakfastOn Wednesday, May 4th, 2011, Abilities, Inc. hosted their (annual) Employer Recognition Breakfast in the Smeal Learning Center. This ceremony provided us with an opportunity to honor the many employers that work with us on a regular basis through their participation in Business Advisory Committees, Corporate Advisory Board, Mock Interviews, Curriculum review and through the hiring of our consumers. The employers attending this event represented the many industries throughout Long Island and the Metropolitan Areas that are pivotal to the success of our training programs and the successful placement of our consumers. During the ceremony, employers were presented with Certificates of Appreciation that reflected various levels of participation and support of our training programs. In addition to these certificates, we presented the Kemp Spirit award for exemplary service. This award is named for our new President and Chief Executive Officer and is presented to employers that embody the mission of our Organization to empower individuals with disabilities to be active participants in today’s labor force. Other awards that were presented include the Lifetime Achievement award for Jack Sullivan, a former executive of IBM, who for the last 18 years has volunteered his time and talents to help prepare our consumers for job interviews that lead to competitive employment.
